Hello Everyone,

Q2-2024 has been an exciting and busy quarter for both Treeview and the XR industry as a whole. We’ve recently returned from a North American 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 tour where we had the chance to connect, brainstorm, and discuss the state of the XR industry with fellow developers, industry leaders, clients, and hardware manufacturers.

Here are some of the key trends and insights that are starting to become top of mind in our industry:

1. 🧠 GenAI: The excitement around GenAI remains high, and the XR industry is eager to explore how to leverage these capabilities beyond text and 2D imagery. As an industry, we’re dedicating a lot of resources in discovering new ways users can interact with immersive applications using GenAI through new interfaces, context-aware applications, and other intelligent components, opening up a new generation of spatial application capabilities.

2. 🤝 Beyond the Headset: Expanding the impact of XR applications by increasing their value through the integration with other technologies was another point of conversation. This expansion of value could include broader distribution channels via companion traditional mobile/web apps, enabling a lower-tier user experience for the XR application, as well as the integration of peripherals like stylus pens and haptics to offer a higher-tier experience than off-the-shelf XR headsets. Additionally, there is significant interest in integrating XR applications with external physical technologies like robotics and iOT devices for remote control, simulations and data visualization.

3. 📈 Growth in Enterprise Use Cases: There’s a strong growing interest from enterprises in adopting XR technology. The adoption of proven ROI use cases such as education, training, and productivity are increasing, and new categories are emerging, including data visualization, communication and decision making tools, behavioral analysis, and empathic storytelling. With the release of new hardware capabilities, we’re seeing the rise of a new generation of software applications and an increase in the enterprise adoption of these applications.

These are exciting times! As this new generation of Mixed Reality hardware rolls out and industry alliances form, we will see a new generation of software applications emerging, opening up new use-cases and capabilities. At Treeview, we are particularly looking forward to developing world-class enterprise XR applications that leverage GenAI and peripheral systems, leading the next chapter of software capabilities in our industry.

The future is now. Let’s keep building.
